New! For those who have wanted to take workshops with us but are too far away to get here, Good For Her introduces online workshops!

Our workshops are interactive and live. You will see and hear the facilitator but no one else (which means that you are also invisible and anonymous to others). We show short DVD clips, write on a tablet and demonstrate techniques, just as we do in store workshops. There is a dialogue box where participants can ask questions and get a response from the facilitator in real time. We send you the handout and login information ahead of time so that you can follow along.

In this workshop, learn how to enhance your lovemaking skills and bring her to ecstasy every time. Find out how to help her get “in the mood” and bring her to new heights once she is there. Learn advanced techniques that will ensure that she keeps coming back for more. Make her fantasies come true! For anyone who wants to learn more about maximizing women's pleasure, be it their own and/or another's!

The workshop will operate through GoToMeeting. You will need a computer with the following requirements:

Kink Conversations: Piercing

Many cultures have a somewhat dichotomous relationship with piercing. There is the socially acceptable piercings of ears and the religious piercings and then there is piercing done for sexual fulfilment. I was perusing Mistress Nymphetamean's blog and found a recent post on the latter, play piercing. It intrigued me greatly and she has been gracious enough to answer some further questions.

When did you get into piercing?
I got into piercing (getting them done) in my late teens—the mid 1990's. Things were drastically different back then, we didn't know a lot of the things we do now about healing a piercing, jewellery choices or placement. There was a lot of trial and error at the time, as professionals learned what did and didn't work. I started piercing in my early 20's—flesh hooks first, then play piercing and ultimately body piercings. I had some amazing teachers, did a lot of research and apprenticed under a few mentors. I added to my knowledge of how the body works and heals when I went to school to be a paramedic—it helped immensely with my understanding of how the body reacts to the pain of piercing.

What preparations do you and the person being pierced go through?
I have to make sure I have all of my supplies ready and close by—a sharps bin does nothing if I can't easily reach it. If anything needs to be sterilised, I run the autoclave. I plan out what we're going to do so I can be sure to have enough supplies on hand. I expect my bottom to have a balanced meal at least a few hours before hand. I expect them to be sober and in good health.

What are the most common body areas used for this piercing?
For play piercing, any part of the body can be used, but back and chest are most common, followed by the genitals.

Are there dangers? What should aspiring practioners and piercees know before their first sessions?
There are many risks involved, most can be minimised by proper education and preparation. The most obvious is infection, whenever we break the skin we open the body to infection. Because of this, proper sterilisation of needles and any tools is required. Using proper skin prep—an anti-microbial formulation is essential, rubbing alcohol is not sufficient. Gloves must be worn (nitrile is best, latex is also acceptable). Most importantly, the top must be educated in proper technique. While the needles used are small, they can do damage if used incorrectly.

Typically how many needles are used—and what are the extremes?
There is no typical here, piercing scenes can range from a few needles to a few hundred. The most I've done in a single session as a piercer is 250 in a guys genitals. I've received over 150 in my back for a set of wings. I've also done scenes for people who are afraid of needles, in those even a single needle is a great achievement for the bottom. Those scenes can be very cathartic and have a special place in my heart.

Are there any types or styles of piercing that you haven‘t tried but that you are looking forward to trying?
The things I would like to learn are all within the realm of permanent piercing—I want to learn how to do micro-dermal piercings. I am a fairly accomplished piercer, doing hook suspensions regularly for 10 years now. I have done many of the most common body piercings, ears, noses, nipples, navels and genitals. I've even had a chance to do some less common ones too—some surface piercing projects, unusual genital piercings. I love to do large gauge piercings, but it's not often people ask for those. I always keep up with the latest trends and innovations in the piercing world, learning new techniques when they interest me.

Men of the Manor: Erotic Encounters between Upstairs Lords & Downstairs Lads
Editor: Rob Rosen
Publisher: Cleis Press
Deadline: August 1st, 2013 (Earlier would be greatly appreciated!)
Payment: $50.00 USD and 2 copies of the book upon publication.

The country estate, masters and servants, mystery and intrigue, sex and money. All go hand in hand in these turn of the century tales of what goes on behind the manor’s closed doors. Does the master lure the butler to the phonograph room for a romp behind the sofa or does the stable boy have a tryst with the footman while the lord longingly watches on? Does the aristocrat drop his foppish manners when the butler helps him undress? And do the classes exchange more than pleasantries when the lamps are dimmed, the candles get snuffed out, and the ladies retire for the evening?

Give me your hottest stories of romance and sex between wealthy aristocrats and hard-working estate staff, all with a pre-World War 1 backdrop, including the fashion and art and the latest inventions of the day. War is years way, the estates are huge and sprawling, the fashionably elite have too much time on their hands, while the toiling underclass are always on the lookout for a means to a brighter future—no matter whose bed they end up in during the night. Think Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs, but with enough sex to make the town vicar blush.

Stories can take place in any country. The sex should be mutually consented to (so no forced encounters between masters and servants). Humor is always appreciated, as are stories with unexpected plot twists.

Please note that Publisher, Cleis Press, has final right of refusal on all submissions. Unpublished stories only, no simultaneous submissions. Please do not send me a story that is being considered elsewhere.

The Editor will not accept:
Already Published Works, Underage Sex, Non-Consensual Sex, Incest, Scat or Bestiality.

How to Submit:
Early submission is strongly encouraged. Please send your submission to: menofthemanor@yahoo.com
Subject: Men of the Manor Submission

Please submit your work as follows:

Send a Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document (.doc or .rtf) 3,000-8,000 word story. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space lines (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). Single space after a period or a comma. Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), mailing address, word count, and 50 word or less bio in the third person.

Toronto Sun Features Trans Sunshine Girl

In a move that was surprisingly quiet and underplayed (or I just missed it until today), the Toronto Sun featured Amelia, a transwoman as their Sunshine Girl last Friday.

For those outside of Canada, the Sun is our right wing, tabloid paper. It is rarely considered progressive, it is very conservative and the Sunshine Girl has long been derided as exploitative.

But now, after featuring Amelia, Sun readers are up in arms and have apparently started a petition. A petition!

For fucks sakes people, shut the hell up. Good for you Amelia for not giving a shit what they are saying. And in a rare instance, I'll say good on the Sun and editor James Wallace for this move.

Sex Stuff: Sexy DJ 3: Indigo Haze

The incomparable Nikki Haze has her Sex DJ series stories up for NO COST on Amazon for the next couple days (check specific dates for specific stories), so I decided to jump right in with Sexy DJ3: Indigo Haze to see if it has some block rockin‘ beat to it.

Oh my does it ever!

The series follows a group of female DJs as the travel the party world entertaining the masses with hypnotic dance hooks and sex show turntable stylings. These ladies don‘t just bring the party, the are the whole fucking party!

Nikki Haze (the character) is the leader and disciplinarian of the group and this particular story focusses on Indigo Haze, the newest member of the troupe. She‘s headlining at a Vegas hotspot, Peace Burlesque where her giddy fans will get ears and eyes full of of her beautiful body and raunchy routine.

Nikki‘s writing is always crisp and cool. I jumped in mid series but I already have a strong sense of the relationships between her characters and their respective personalities.

And the sex? Hot and steamy and fantastically crafted! I do hasten Nikki to give a good proof read before publishing, because I don‘t want her work to be dismissed.

I highly recommend you check out the Sexy DJ series and Nikki Haze‘s many other works!

Sexual Breakdown--The Man‘s Perspective

Dr. Trina puts a different spin on the age-old problem of time-grown sexual incompatibility. Hollywood and popular media have embraced the very justified suffering that women can go through while dealing with and reconciling their sex lives in long-term relationships. But rarely has there been such strong depictions and discussions of male sexual desire in long-term relationships.

While some of Trina‘s depiction seems a bit stereotypical, that could just be that this scenario is all too common. These issues do arise far too frequently and couples struggle mightily from being on the wrong page sexually.

But what could help? Trina hints at it, but doesn‘t say the word: communication. We are still so conditioned--especially men--to keep our sexual thoughts, desires and concerns quiet. This causes so many silent unhappiness.

Learning to open up AND learning to listen could help so many, in so many ways.

Sex Stuff: Shelly Watching

Shelly Watching is a specific type of erotica that I really enjoy. Equal parts sexy and indifferent, author Howard Raymond pulls together a simple story that actually is more complex than we‘re lead to believe.

What makes this story so hot for me? The sex in it is masturbation. Just wanking. And just one instance. Extended and detailed scenes of masturbation, particularly male batin‘, is rare in erotica. Usually it is just a transition act, building to something else. But Howard Raymond combines an intense and hot jerking scene with voyeur/exhibitionisn and an awkward/tense situation.

And throughout the scene, you feel the story start to take a turn. One that is drawn out so well.
Shelly Watching is another great addition to the Fleshbot Fiction line, where I think we‘ll keep finding quality erotica.

Call For Submissions: Juicy Pink Box

Call For Submissions

Juicy Pink Box is launching a publishing division. We're looking for lesbian erotica. Email submissions to pubishing@juicypinkbox.com

Payment will be $50 per short story (4.5-5K), $75 per novella/medium length story (10-15K). We will be purchasing a 2 year exclusive license, with first right of refusal to purchase all rights or renew a license at the end of the term. Authors will be paid in full once final manuscript has been accepted.

Three categories:

1. Fiction ebook short story of 4.5-5K words (or novella 10-15K words). Falling for Her-- a series about straight women falling in love with other women. Tone is more light, romantic, sensual, sweet.

2. Hot, steamy, raunchy non-fiction ebook short story of 4.5-5K words (or novella 10-15K words) of a real life, true story/ "confession" of BDSM lesbian experience. Can be told either from the role of the sub or the domme.

3. Ebook short story of 4.5-5K words for the TAXI series theme. So, this will be a naughty, rough, gritty hook-up in the back of a taxi, or with the taxi driver. Also lesbian characters, of course. This ties in to the Juicy Pink Box TAXI series in theme (but will feature original content/plotlines).

Here are the list of NO TOPICS (themes we find objectionable):
-rape (unless consensual, as in a Sub/Domme relationship)
-violence/ domestic violence (unless consensual, as in a Sub/Domme relationship)
-incest, even if implied (ex. Stepmom)
-bestiality
-scat/ golden shower/ menstrual blood
-underage sex (except in situations where it's a "true story", and even then 15-16 is the cut off, depending on content)
-extreme power imblances (ex. high school student with teacher, or much older woman and younger woman)
-trickery in seduction (no one getting fooled/ forced into sex or a relationship through fraud or coercion)

TOPICS WE'D LOVE TO SEE:
-story lines about women of color -- NOT MAIDS/ HOUSEKEEPERS! Giving them good jobs and interesting lives
-any kind of exotic location
-luxury lifestyle
-story lines about straight women struggling with sexuality (happy ending required -- no "I killed myself" stuff)
-rough and raunchy
-soft and sensual
-really clear descriptions of the sex
-strong character development -- meaning, better to focus on 3 or fewer well-developed characters rather than a whole crew of less-defined characters
-an air of mystery
-surprise endings
-great love story (romantic, tear jerker, so long as it has a happy ending -- a la chick lit/ rom-com)

If writers have questions they can email publishing@juicypinkbox.com

Everyone Is Lovin‘ “Gay Sex!“

Okay, not everyone (but close!)...and the sex isn‘t gay.

Dr. Justin Lehmiller reports on the growing and predominantly hetero love of anal sex. Once believed to be an exclusively queer sex act, anal began taking the world by storm in the late 80s or early 90s and is now practically commonplace for straight folks.

What made anal so popular? I‘ll put it out there that it was porn. Porm, and as follows, its fans, embraced backdoor lovin‘. Big time. It is rare to find any porn that doesn‘t have some type of anal play.

But, as Lehmiller writes, anal is still derogatorily attributed to gay men. This is just so bizarre! Just because straight folks have only owned up to ass fun in the recent past, doesn‘t mean they haven‘t been down with it for ages.

It‘s time we all just acknowledge the awesoness of ass!

Sex As Remedy?

Colour me skeptical about these 7 Surprising Things That Sex Cures

I've never had a migraine, but I've been with people who suffer from them. Even if I was about to explode in a libidinous frenzy, I wouldn't even suggest sex during the migraine attack. As for the rest of these, well, some seem dubious at best. What does the digestive system have to do with the birthing system? And how much jizz do you have to ingest before you're cured of depression?

Muse Monday: DIY

Do It Yourself is something I live by. So many projects, so many life choices have been based on the DIY ethos. All kinds of sex toys and bondage equipment has been created this way too. So you can imagine my delight at finding this image on Monica's Twitter. HOT!

DIY

I forgot.

Totally and completely.

See, we have this special day. It seems really silly, and even we laugh a lot about it, but we've been "celebrating" it for years. It's new lingerie day and this year I forgot.

It all started about 10 years ago, simply enough. We were on a little road trip to and our crappy little motel room was cold. I didn't bring any pyjamas so Dave offered to go out and get some for me. What he came back with wouldn't have kept my toe warm! A stringy lacy thing which he explained was the "only thing he could find!" After some tense moments I put it on, partly out of spite. But once I got it on...well, we made up pretty quickly.

That started a great tradition of me going out to buy a new sexy item every year to commemorate that first time. I've come back with everything from leather to lace, chains to cotton. Every year it gets us both hot and we fuck until dawn.

Yet somehow, I managed to forget this year, and there's just no time to get out and get something. MY eyes dart around the room—I'll have to improvise.

In a panic I scan the room. Nothing looks like it'll work. Just a bunch of everyday household objects. Until I spy the electrical tape. Hmmm...

I pull a strip off and apply it to my skin to test it. Okay, this will work, but only because I like to keep myself smooth and shaved. Glancing at the clock, I realize I'd better get moving on this sexy project and start cutting and sticking tape in a pattern of...well, I don't know what. With every piece I smooth it over my skin, giving myself a little caress each time. With each piece, I turn myself on more and more.

Just as I'm putting the last piece on, I hear his lock in the key. Part of the tradition has also been for me to great him at the door so I grab a robe and rush down the stairs. I see his expectant smile and giggle. He's got no idea what I've got hidden underneath the robe.

I'm too turned on to wait and can't wait to see what he thinks of my do it yourself lingerie. The tape pulls on my skin as I descend to him. That pulling creates a delicious friction turning me on more and more. A drop of cum runs down my leg just as I pull away my covering.

He looks at me in complete surprise—mouth hanging open, eyes wide and cock instantly hard as a rock. He is also utterly speechless. I step forward, pulling the tape out of the robe pocket. With a devilish smile I pull out a long strip, wrap it around him and me and pull him close. After a deep kiss I whisper in his ear "looks like we're all wrapped up...with somewhere to go." And the two of us shuffle toward the living room...

Call For Submissions: Kinky Couples Erotica

Call For Submissions

Kinky Couples Erotica
Publisher: Cleis Press (in 2014 )
Editor: Rachel Kramer Bussel
Deadline: July 1, 2013 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged)
Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the book on publication

This book of erotica stories will feature couples exploring many aspects of BDSM, from newbies to seasoned players, in bedrooms and dungeons and far beyond. Editor Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for BDSM stories featuring couples (though stories with more than two people are welcome). Couples can be of any sexual orientation but the book’s primary audience and focus is on heterosexual couples. They can be newbies or experienced players (or a combination of the two). The final book will feature couples who’ve just met but will contain mostly stories about already-established couples who are engaging in BDSM in various forms. The more creative, the better. Submissions tend to skew extremely heavily toward the female submissive POV, so if you are submitting a female sub/male dom story, please make sure it is unique and dazzling. I’m especially looking for stories from the top’s/dominant’s POV. Most of all, stories should be attention-grabbing, provocative and daring. All characters should be over 18. I’m looking for a mix of male and female tops and bottoms (and switches), as well as a mix of physical and mental power play. No nonconsensual scenes. No bestiality, scat or incest. No poetry. Please see my anthologies Anything for You: Erotica for Kinky Couples; Yes, Sir; Yes, Ma’am; Please, Sir; Please, Ma’am; He’s on Topand She’s on Top for examples of the kinds of kinky stories I prefer. Unpublished stories only (this includes blogs and websites).

How to submit: Send double spaced Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, not .docx) OR RTF of 1,500-4,000 word story. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) required. Only submit your final, best version of the story you are submitting. Do not send multiple versions of the same story. Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), mailing address, and 50 word or less bio in the third person to bdsmcouplesantho@gmail.com. If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name as well as your pseudonym and make it clear which one you’d like to be credited as. For the smoothest editorial process, please double check that the byline you are using with your submission is the byline you'd want published. You will receive a confirmation within 72 hours. I will get back to you by September 2013. I cannot give any feedback on rejected submissions.

Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the book on publication

Deadline: July 1, 2013 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged)

Female Fantasy Erotica

Deadline: July 1, 2013 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged)
Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the book on publication

This collection of erotica will feature female protagonists living out their hottest fantasies. From vanilla kinky, single to partnered, from 18 to elderly, I'm looking for stories of all sorts of women (transgender characters are also welcome) exploring new aspects of their sexuality. For inspiration, feel free to check out a list by Violet Blue of common sexual fantasies, but stories must capture what about that particular fantasy for that particular character is so compelling and make it red-hot to work for this book, and authors are encouraged to be creative, daring and provocative with exploring the definition of fantasy and how it plays out for your character. All characters should be over 18. No nonconsensual scenes. No bestiality, scat or incest. No poetry. Please see my anthologiesOrgasmic, Women in Lust, and Fast Girls for examples of the kinds of stories I'm looking for. Unpublished stories only (this includes blogs and websites).

Noisy Sex, But Not Your Own

Have you ever been on the hearing end of someone else's loud sex, particularly in the middle of the night? I have to say, I've likely been the cause, more often than not, of people's sleepless nights, though part of me wishes I'd heard more!

I lived in a U-shaped co-op and do not like air conditioning. And one of my exes who lived there with me was loud. No, not just loud, she was distractingly loud, so much that I didn't even want to hear it. I can't imagine how many people we disturbed.

At the other end of the spectrum, I was home alone one time, on a summer evening, talking on my cell in my yard. I hear what sounds like distressed, low moans. They increase in frequency, but not enough in volume for me to figure out where they were coming from. There was another co-op right next store, and I reasoned it was coming from one of those units. I explored all around the main floor units, ensuring someone hadn't fallen and couldn't get up. I start to wonder if I should contact the building's management or even the police. The moans continue...until it isn't a pained sounding moan anymore...And then the orgasm was a dead give away.

I figure I got back what I'd been party to dishing out.

Couples' Erotic Romance Stories
Publisher: Cleis Press (in 2014 )
Editor: Rachel Kramer Bussel
Deadline: June 1, 2013 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged)
Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the book on publication

Editor Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for romantic, primarily heterosexual erotic stories for a 2014 anthology of erotic romance. Stories can feature couples exploring new erotic territory, strangers who share a spark, lost lovers or exes reuniting, etc. Final book will contain a mix of storytelling styles, settings and heros/heroines. Kink, sex toys, exotic locations/scenarios welcome as long as there is an element of erotic romance as opposed to strictly erotica. Sensual and sexual should coexist. Stories should be strongly plotted, have engaging, unique characters and be hot and original. I highly prefer contemporary settings but will consider a limited amount of historical fiction. All characters must be over 18; no incest, scat or bestiality. No poetry. See my anthology Irresistible: Erotic Romance for Couples for examples of the kinds of stories I'm looking for. Unpublished stories only (this includes blogs and websites).

How to submit: Send double spaced Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, not .docx) OR RTF of 1,500-4,000 word story. Kawai's Guide to falling in love with inappropriate persons

This is haunting, touching, beautiful, delightful and it will linger with me. It is also so much more.

Take in Kawai's Guide to falling in love with inappropriate persons. First look through it and take in the imagery. Quickly, don't linger. Then read it. Then read it again. Then read it one last time while also simultaneously taking in the stunning imagery again.

Combining old school zine-esque collage with remarkable writing, Kawai takes us to that place of love we've all experienced, some of us more than others.

Wonderful work.

Debunking Myths About Women's Sexual Desire

Kristen Mark does a great job, scientifically, breaking down commonly held ideas about women‘s sexual desire.

Some of these ideas seem so antiquated that I am surprised people still think there aren‘t, for example, highly sexually women. But Mark‘s writing and research will, hopefully, kick some of these ideas out of the bed.

SEEKING NEW SHAREHOLDERS

Glad Day Bookshop is the world’s oldest surviving lesbian, gay, bi, trans & queer bookstore. Last year, this historic Toronto shop almost closed but a group of 22 community members pooled our funds and saved the store. The goal of our first year was to stabilize the business. We are now looking to move from survival to strength.

Some of our original group are moving on to focus on other personal goals, which has made a small number of shares available for purchase. You should know that it will be many years before any Shareholder will see a return on their investment, and even that is not a guarantee. This endeavour is best for people who want to make a difference, make art, make love, make connections or make history.

The minimum expectations of Shareholders are:

- Volunteer at least 10 hours per month on projects, programs or initiatives of your choice.

Erotic Romance Reader Survey

Kenya Wright asked me to pass this along. I'm going to do the survey myself this morning!

Erotic Romance Reader Survey

Author Kenya Wright is conducting a survey on erotic romance readers for a non-fiction book that she’s writing on the marriage of erotica and romance.
Purpose: I’ve read a lot of negative research on reading romance novels and am wondering if this data truly represents the erotic romance community. Here are a few that stand out for me:
· “Love Means Never Having to Be Careful: Relationship between safe sex and romance novels.” Diekman AB.
· “The Surprising Impact that Romance Novels have on our Work.” Quilliam, Susan.
· Books discussing that romance novels can lead to marital and relationship dissatisfaction. “Finding the Hero in your Husband.” Dr. Julia Slattery.

Besides the obvious show of bias seen in these studies, romance and erotic romance novels are thrown together as one interchangeable genre where as fans understand that they are two different types of novels and reading audience.
My Goal is to get a decent representation of what the erotic romance readership truly looks like.

The survey:

· Takes less than ten minutes to answer

· Participation is voluntary

· All data is confidential

· The survey begins May 9, 2013 ends August 30, 2013.

Publisher: Burning Book Press
Deadline: August 1st, 2013
Intended Publication Dec 1 2013, ebook Format.
Payment & Rights: $25 payable via paypal. Non-exclusive digital rights for 2 years

Best Men's Erotica 2014 is to be the first of an annual collection of the best erotic stories from a male perspective. What turns a literate guy on? Something beyond "OMG it's SEX!" and Penthouse Letters. Something the best writers, male and female can give us in spades.

What we'd like to see:

This collection will be selected and edited by Raziel Moore and William Crimson (@_Monocle, eroticwriter.wordpress.com). We're looking for fictional stories that realistically addresses male sexuality. The concept of the Male Gaze has dealt extensively with the sexualization and objectification of women. It has also buttonholed, objectified, and "predatorized" male sexuality. BME [Burning Book Press] hopes to demonstrate a broader, more realistic, and human spectrum.

Character, story, and situation are open. Be literate and erotic. Our common orientation is heterosexual, but bi/pan/tran/homosexual stories are welcome and encouraged. If it can turn on or erotically resonate with someone who's not a dyed in the wool homophobe, we're interested. The primary focus of the sexual action is the male experience, male sexuality including but not limited to pleasure, is the main element. Style, humor, and intensity are all open; and happy endings are not required.

Established authors and new writers are welcomed.

Stories may contain elements of speculative fiction, sci-fi and other genres so long as the are grounded by eroticism, believable characters, powerful imagery, and emotional realism.

An Obvious Study Of Dreams and Relationships

This needed to be studied? Has everyone encountered someone who gets surly after bad dreams, be it a friend, relative, coworker or partner? And a study of 61 people of a 25 year age span? Yes, that is definitive of human existence.

And all the findings...don‘t they all just seem like common sense?

Sex Workers Will Be Heard - Support Decrim, Support Sex Workers!!!

Sex Workers Will Be Heard - Support Decrim, Support Sex Workers!!!

Saturday, June 8, 2013

298a Gerrard St East

Attention Friends, Sex Workers, Hustlers and Allies;

This is a call out for support, action and attitude!

As many of you know on September 28th 2008, sex workers and allies celebrated Judge Himel’s landmark ruling that would effectively decriminalize sex work. The Superior Court of Ontario struck down three sex worker related laws in the Canadian Criminal Code (CCC)

Section 210 ‘Common bawdy house’

Section 212 (1)(j) ‘Living on the avails’; and

Section 213 (1)(c) ‘Communicating for the purposes of prostitution’).

Ontario Superior Court Justice Susan Himel ruled that these laws violate the right to liberty and security that is guaranteed in Section 7 of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Himel exposed that harm done to sex workers through criminalization outweighs any harm done to the community in respect of these laws.

On June 13th 2013 these three laws will again be revisited in the courts at the level of the Supreme Court of Canada. This will be the first time in Canadian History that the Supreme Court of Canada will be deciding on the constitutionality of the criminalization of Sex Work.
Sex Workers Will Be Heard: The (not so Honorable) Justice Richard Wagner of the Supreme Court of Canada has decided, in denying sex worker led organizations intervenor status in the hearing, that our voices do not matter, but WE WILL BE HEARD!

On June 8th 2013 there will be a National Day of Action to support the sex working community and demand the decriminalization of sex work. Sex workers, sex worker led organizations and our allies from across Canada will be taking to the street to march and be heard. We want you to join Maggie's and other sex workers in Toronto and surrounding areas in this historical moment for sex workers rights, dignity and the fight against criminalization.

Show your support of decriminalization and our national Day of Action

By:

Helping to MOBILIZE allies and supports. Bring out as many people to our event as possible and help us make our voices heard - sex workers know what they need to work with dignity and safety, and RIGHT NOW, sex work needs to be decriminalized in Canada
We have very limited resources and a short time to organize so if you or anyone you know can donate supplies or resources please get in touch with us.
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with the planning and execution of a march and community gathering in Allen Gardens Park
We are holding our next organizing meeting May 21st at Maggie’s Toronto at 7pm to finalize our Day of Action plans. We are inviting a point person from each of your organizations to participate and help support making this a loud, proud and successful event.

For further information regarding this event or the next organizing meeting please contact outreach@maggiestoronto.ca

Call For Papers: Porn Studies Academic Journal

Call For Papers

Porn Studies Academic Journal, Routledge Publishing
Call for Papers

Porn Studies is an interdisciplinary journal described as "the first dedicated, international, peer-reviewed journal to critically explore those cultural products and services designated as pornographic and their cultural, economic, historical, institutional, legal and social contexts." Porn Studies will pay particular attention to "the intersection of sexuality, gender, race, class, age and ability."

Porn Studies invites submissions for publication, commencing with its first issue in Spring 2014. Articles should be between 5000 and 8000 words. Forum submissions should be 500-1500 words. Book reviews should be between 800 and 1500 words. Submissions will be refereed anonymously by at least two referees.

In this first instance submissions, queries and suggestions should be sent to editorspstudies [at] gmail [dot] com

The Journal focuses on developing knowledge of pornographies past and present, in all their variations and around the world. Because pornography studies are still in their infancy we are also interested in discussions that focus on theoretical approaches, methodology and research ethics. Alongside articles, the journal includes a forum devoted to shorter observations, developments, debates or issues in porn studies, designed to encourage exchange and debate.

You can also help the Journal and its mission:

* Please help distribute this Call for Papers page here, or this PDF www.tandf.co.uk/journals/cfp/rprncfp.pdf to interested networks.

* Library recommendation: check if your institution has a subscription to the journal. If not, recommend it for the next subscription year.
If you teach, consider adding it your students' reading lists.

It is time to create a valid and constructive conversation on pornography, and in turn offer balance to irrational, fact-challenged and illogical statements about a topic that is key to understanding human sexuality and the well-being of individuals and their quest for self-defined, healthy sexuality. We hope you join us.

The Hook-up: Maxine X

Introducing Maxine X

I feel funny introducing someone who is already so well-known! Porn superstar, retail proprietress of sexual goodies...she's the hardest working lady around. And now she's blogging too!

How did you get into blogging?
I just officially start blogging for my own site to promote my Adult Store. I have had my store for two and half years and less then a month ago we created the site for blogging and promoting.

I have been posting on facebook, twitter, youtube and all my other social networking sites for years. I have been in the adult industry for about 10 years and have been self promoting myself and my work the whole time. Blogging comes naturally to me. I love to write, I have so much in my head. I talk a lot so I always have something to say. I also started writing a book about being a Fetish Model and one that is also a bit biographical. But I have a long way to go because I’ve been so busy lately.

Do readers ever find your blog first and then discover "Hey! This is Maxine X!"
I don’t know if that has ever happened, but I think most of the time they either follow me because they like my work already or they follow me because they like my profile picture and then find out what I do. If they don’t know who I am, they will discovery it pretty fast. I’m an open book.

Your blog is still new. What are you most enjoying blogging about?
I love creative writing. I love to type. I’m a fast typer. I love to talk and can talk for hours to people and friends in person. I also love to express my thoughts, tell people about my adventures and I love to educate others. I always have something to write about.

How's life in the sex retail world?
Life in the Adult Store Retail world is just fine I guess. I am a new business, so I've only been open for 2 1/2 years so far. I am still building, growing & developing. I'm still working full time and working hard. I still contently promote my store and try to get the word out there that I have one.

People are still just learning that it is even here. But as we all know it takes up to 5 years for a business to be establish. It's all about surviving those first 5 years. I don't rely on my store for survival at the moment, but I am only getting busier and getting better!

My store is a passion of mine. I love it. I've always wanted my own store and I've always loved adult stores, adult toys, lingerie and heels etc. My husband help create it for me because he is the most amazing supportive husband.

So until my business is up and running on its own, I work my ass off in the store, building the store, being an adult performer and anything else I can do. My husband works hard as a producer, editor & selling our adult content online and to Pay Per View channels and hotels for Canadian Content.

I am hoping my blog will help my adult store, but even more so, I hope that it surpasses my adult store and becomes a successful blogging site. I also plan to write books & teach sex workshops one day.

Do you encounter customers you'd consider blogging about?
Of course! All the time. But I have so much more to write about first. I'm just trying to catch up on my writing on my “Sex” 101 stuff, questions people always ask me & blogging about my adventures in the adult industry.

How much film work are you doing these days?
I am back to shooting again! I moved to Windsor from Toronto about 4 years ago and I thought I was just going to retire from Porn. I was honestly thinking I was too old and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do. After whole winter of not doing anything except a little webcamming and taking little courses for fun such as, “How to read Tarot Cards.” It was in that class where I asked, “What was I going to do? Was I going to settle down and have a baby or something?” And then they read my cards and it said I would be in the spotlight. (Entertainer) And soon after that incident I had a Psychic Reading from someone else and she told me that “You're really good at your job. What do you do?” I laughed a little and told her.

As for shooting, I just needed to get my store up and running before I could leave it alone. Scott and I worked it alone for years. We now have someone to work for us and we can leave it for a while to travel. I want to travel more & shoot as much as possible now.

DVD “Oiled Up” With Angelina Valentine & LT

“Milf's Like it Big”, “Mommy Got Boobs” & “She's Gonna Squirt”

“Milf Hunter” and “My Big Tit Boss” (not out yet)

I have done several fetish shoots such as;

The Bondage Channel

American Damsels

Bedroom Bondage

Hard Tied

And coming soon;

DVD (worked with 4x AVN Award Winner for Male Performer of the year) Manuel Ferrara (anal)

for Mike Adrinao (anal POV)

And I had my first speaking part (non sex) roll in a Parody-Porn for Parks & Rec. Called, “Porks and Recreations”

I am also going back to California and Florida in June to do some more shoots.

Will we be reading much about those adventures?
I will definitely be writing all about my adventures very soon... I'm just trying to catch up. I have to juggle finding the time to write with working full time at my store, working on building and promoting my store, cleaning my house and doing laundry on my day off.

When writing about sex, which of your two perspectives shines through more in your blog: your film work or your retail work?
I like to do both. I blog about sex to educate and put in my perspective of working in the adult industry, my experiences with also good product reviews.

What can we look forward to in the future from you?
I am planing on shooting more. For my own adult website and for other companies. I want to work hard and get some AVN Nominations under my belt. I plan to get really into blogging and take it world wide. I want to write books and do sex workshops.

Rose Caraway is seeking a "library" of "Hand Picked" authors who write Intelligent, Hot and Engaging Erotica. Highlighting her favorite authors and their wonderful writing talents, as well as discovering new writers and then sharing them with the world, is what Rose Caraway takes great joy in doing.

Your plot must be very well developed, rich in detail and hold the story together but not be so complex that you lose the reader. Characters need life and the eroticism must be hot, hot, hot! The most important thing is to make these stories fun; for you and the reader. Capture their imaginations with your own. Pull the readers into your head and give them the full tour. This book of stories will feature erotica from any of the following sub-categories:
HORROR, MYSTERY, ROMANCE, SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, WESTERN, PARANORMAL, ACTION-ADVENTURE, HISTORICAL

Within these sub-categories, I would be happy to see (but do not require), a variety of added ingredients. Feel free to add any of the following delicious spices:
MÉNAGE, KINK, ROLE PLAYING, SPANKING, BDSM, STEAM PUNK, FUTURISTIC

Rose Caraway will not accept:
Already Published Works, Underage Sex, Non-Consensual Sex, Incest, Scat or Bestiality.

This book is targeted towards hetero stories, but the editor will be delighted to consider f/f, m/m, etc., stories as well. Just remember that believable engagement must occur between characters. Be creative and write from your heart. Make the readers want to come back and read your story again!

How to Submit:
Early submission is strongly encouraged. Please send your submission (one story per author) to:
Email: sexylibrariansbigbookoferotica@gmail.com
TO: Rose Caraway
Subject: The Sexy Librarian's Big Book of Erotica Submission

Ready For A Quickie?

Really nice piece about quickies here. While it may be female-focussed, anyone can learn from Denise Charles' tips and advice on feeling sexy in your own skin and building up a sexy thought catalogue to speed up arousal.

I'll offer up some more advice: be open and interested in the idea of a quickie. Even when everything in life is happening at once and you're stressed and stretched as far as you can go, remember that a few minutes of passion isn't going to change the world. Life won't come crashing down and you need to be in the frame of mind to remember that when your partner comes calling with searching fingers and lascivious looks.

Call For Submissions The Emma Press Anthology of Mildly Erotic Verse

Call For Submissions

The Emma Press Anthology of Mildly Erotic Verse
Publisher: Emma Press
Deadline: 17th May 2013
Payment: £25

Let's be clear: this book will blow your socks off.

Yes, it's only mildly erotic, but aren't mildly erotic things in fact the most erotic of all? The understated and allusive can hint at a whole lot more than some workaday description of whips and welts. This book is more likely to make you widen your eyes slightly and smile before surreptitiously eyeing up passers-by and wondering if you can rearrange your plans for the evening.

The Emma Press Anthology of Mildly Erotic Verse will be published in September 2013. It will feature poems from a number of different poets and be fully illustrated like The Flower and the Plough, with black line drawings. We are accepting submissions, so read on for more information.

What we're looking for

Above all, we're looking for good writing. The erotic element of the poems can be as apparent or barely-there as you like, but the writing has got to tick all the boxes: metre, pacing, form, language, and metre. Metre metre metre. The poems may need further editing, but if you can show that you can write then you'll have our attention.

As far as the mildly erotic element goes, you can come at it from whichever direction you like. What makes writing good and what makes it erotic are both highly subjective, so please don't be offended if our tastes don't match yours. We will read everything, however, and respond with our thoughts.

Length-wise, the maximum is about 3 sides of a normal paperback book.

What's the deal for the poets?

We envisage using about 15 poets for the book. If we get lot of high-quality entries, we'll probably publish two mildly erotic volumes instead. Full terms and conditions still need to be worked out, but there will be a £25 advance for each poet (not per poem, as it says in Writing Magazine sorry!), because writing for free sucks after a while.

How to submit

Email emma [at] theemmporium.com, with up to four poems you think might be suitable and a brief covering letter. Please attach the poem(s) in a single Word document so it's easy for us to print out.

Deadline for submissions: Friday 17th May 2013.

Great Tedx Talk on The Bystander Approach and Male Feminism

This is making the rounds, and rightly so. Something for everyone to watch to learn not only about male feminism but also the bystander approach. Powerful stuff.

Disgusting Example of Violence Culture

NRA Vendor Sells Ex-Girlfriend Target That Bleeds When You Shoot It

This is absolutely horrific. There's bad taste. There's callous thought. There's being an ass.

Then there is creating and marketing a shooting dummy that bleeds. In the form of an "ex-girlfriend."

That is sick and twisted. Violence is a real and, sadly, entrenched part of our society because of bullshit like this.

Sex Stuff: Taking Flight, Taking Rides

The humour wasn't lost on me that I read most of these fun and titillating stories while riding various types of transportation. Subway and commuter train, to be precise. And I can definitely say that I have fantasied and dreamed up some wonderful stories. Add to that my drives, my bike rides and the occasional plane trip, and I think it can be said with certainty that erotic stories that involve travel are "my thing."

So it was a delight to receive this request to review from one of my favourite sex bloggers, Ms. Quote. I know her work to be top quality and extremely readable. In both her blog and this collection she skillfully combines whimsy, sensuality, dirty sex and emotion. A rare combination in erotica!

Throughout Taking Flight, Taking Rides, Ms. Quote explores the travel theme with various different sultry and sexy characters heading out on journeys for various different reasons including business, family visits and more. There are all sorts of weather issues, room issues and relationship issues to be dealt with. And what's the best way to deal with most of life's issues?

Sex. And these stories have lots of it! Really good, steamy hot sex. Well crafted and delicious sex!

I thoroughly enjoyed the collection, but I do need to send one bit of advice to Ms. Quote: make friends with a copy editor. There are some instances of misplaced text, some typos and other issues. In this instance, it isn't too distracting, but erotica is rife with these problems and they can be easily avoided.

But back to what matters, the smut! If you like to travel, literally or in your mind, get on board this sexual journey!

Understanding Female Sexual Desire

It is hard to believe that the whole idea of female sexuality was denied and repressed for so long. Not that that isn't still happening, but society is finally moving forward to understand the many complex layers of women's sexual well-being.

Sexualityandu.ca has put out this excellent paper The Complexity of Female Sexual Desire that is a must read.

Dating Site for Inmates?

It is easy to look at inmates as loveless and unworthy of human affection. But maybe programs like this can help those behind bars realize affection and emotion, and help them grow.

But am I missing something? Is the name of the site listed? Is a link provided? Seriously, did I just miss either of these details? To me, that's very poor reporting.

Muse Mondays: It's a Dirty Job

Sometimes it all comes down to luck. Pippa May followed me recently, and being the good lurker I am, I perused the fantastic images she's collected. So many to choose from, but yeah, this one just jumped out. I like sex at work fantasies and activities and hope this comes true for someone, somewhere.

It's a Dirty Job
I hate working the overnight shift at the gym. It is rarely busy and usually the only people who are there are leering, gross-looking men. There are a few women who work here and because they always want at least one person of each gender on site at all times, we have to rotate through weeks and each take a turn working graveyard once a month.

And this is my week. So far it has been dull, which I guess is better than disgusting. No pervs, no gawkers. I'm not sure who really wants to work out in the middle of the night anyway, but there are some and we do try to make them happy. Even if we aren't.

One thing I have noticed is that women rarely come here at night. So, that is one perk. We're required to thoroughly clean the change rooms every shift and with no women here, my job is a snap. Sometimes I disappear in there with a book or my phone for a good while. The guys all know what's happening but there's nothing they can do about it—and I love that.

I've just wheeled the cleaning cart into the room when I am startled by the sound of the shower running. Very odd considering I hadn't noticed any women come in. Fearing the worst—that some guy has decided to use the ladies room instead, I steel up my courage and stop toward the sound of the water.

And when I turn the corner, I stop.

And stare.

And open my mouth.

But they don't see me. They're too busy. They're too busy to see me or notice me because they're fucking! Going at it! Naked and hot and steamy and wet!

I duck back around the corner, my heart racing behind my breasts. Two women, in the shower together, lips, hands and more all over the place!

That's just...so...I mean...what are they thinking...that's just...so...

Hot.

So damn hot.

In that split second of shock and surprise I'd managed to take in a lot of skin, a lot of sexy and now my panties were soaked. I didn't even need to touch my cunt, I could feel myself dripping.

And I want to see more.

Tentatively, I peek back around the corner. They are still lost in their lust and oblivious to my presence. Enough steam is also coming out of their stall to put a fine mist in the air. Both are leaning back and jutting their hips forward to grind against each other's pussies. Their moans are audible now...and mine would be too if I weren't trying so hard to stifle it.

I can't help myself as my hand slips into my pants. So wet, so warm, so needy. My clit sticks out, begging for attention. Not wanting to miss this opportunity, I stroke it hard and fast. My fingers make tight circles over and over, as my eyes remain transfixed on the two babes. As they get closer to their own cums—which didn't take long—I felt my knees starting to buckle and shake.

I couldn't hold back anymore. I hand was a whir of masturbatory delight and I struggled to keep my eyes open and on them. Just as my own orgasm hit I could see the two of them buck and shake in sweet delight. I worked my fingers that little bit more and definitely could not shut down a deep and satisfied moan.

Just as my breathing was beginning to return, the water turned off and I panicked. I pulled my hand out of my shorts and ran from the room. My cheeks were still flushed when I got to the front desk.

After a short while, one of my coworkers turned and said "Bathroom must have been really dirty, eh?"
I turned to look at him, my cheeks in full-on blush. From behind me a women's voice giggled, "Don't worry, she worked her fingers into all the right spots!" as the two of them walked out the door.
